8/17/09 04:37 am - COLLEGE
Before I start: Here in the last year of highschool you do exams(I did my exams last year), the results are converted to points (max being 6 A+ which is 600 points), college courses are offered through a database on your points. Got it?
Offers come out in 1 hour 21 mins at the time of typing this sentance. So on offers day, the newspapers print 4-6 pages with all the points for the college courses in the country. They leaked at about 3am so I got to look and see if I had enough points for my desired courses - No.1 Event Management (was kinda iffy about actually getting this as it was a new course and didn't know the points, and I have low points) and my No.2 Heritage Studies (history, geneaolgy, archeology, languages etc. Really interesting course. Def had more than enough points for, I got offered it last year but I was obsessed with being a teacher so I declined it)
I got 295 (I actually got A's and B's in my exams, but the numbers didn't add up, it's weird k?) and Event Management is 310 whereas Heritage Studies is 210, so I got HS.
tl(or complicated!);dr: I didn't get the 'grades' for my first choice Event Management, got my second Heritage Studies though.
I'm kinda happy I didn't get EM - 3 years of business which I probably would've hated. HS is an interesting course. But with EM, I could get into some good jobs (I want to work in the music business, well like record companies or venues. I actually found out about a course TODAY that was specifically for that, and that I could have gotten in to, but it's in a city I don't really wanna go to.) Kinda annoyed about that.
But with HS - I'm hoping to get a job in the Irish language channel maybe as a researcher (I'll basically have a degree for that), get experience in media, then try and get a job in where I wanna be.
I have to wait now 1 hour 10 mins until I can accept my offer and sleep.
